Happy Friday! Welcome to my monthly newsletter on fonts, designery things, freelancing and tips that can help your day-to-day work life.
I've just wrapped up a branding project. My favourite type of inbound lead - a conversion that started after a podcast interview and got me a new client! Marketing works in so many ways. People can find you through various channels, not just social media posts.
The project was for a talent management consultancy, JAM People. If you know me, I'm a little obsessed with colour and I like playing with typography combinations including mixing it up with heights and font weights. In the brief, JAM wanted a style that would be fun but also had to look professional to corporate clients. After a few iterations, I used the typeface AVONE - a stylish modern serif font.
And here is what I produced:
The team from JAM said this: "We now have pride in our brand, also the ability to send out client-facing documents that we're really proud of now."
FONTS
Future of Fonts in 2026
I love the Creative Boom website. It’s one of the online magazines that never fails to inform, inspire, and keep me up to date with the design industry. Have a look at this article “50 fonts that will be popular with designers in 2026” with views taken from the design community, with info on how some have used them in their work. Take a look here.
Need to do a quick mockup but no time to create a brand new logo? Try Logo Ipsum, like Lorem Ipsum for placeholder text but for logos!

It’s important to make sure your designs are accessible. Try this free tool to see if your colour pairings have a 4.5+ contrast score.
FREELANCING
LinkedIn for Humans
Hey come back, don't run away just yet! I'm no social media expert. But LinkedIn is a platform with massive reach to potentially bring more work in. With a little effort you could find your next client. Apparently, there are over 1 billion members on LinkedIn and only about 1% of people post regularly. I repeat, just 1%.
Sophie Cross created the LinkedIn for Humans course. If you know me, I hardly ever finish courses… but I actually finished this one! It's broken up into actionable day-to-day tasks. Once thought of as a platform for stuffy suits, LinkedIn has well and truly moved on. You can wear what you want, say what you want, and be yourself.
The next enrollment window for LinkedIn for Humans is now open and you can sign up here.
Extra bonus if you’re looking to create a course and start a newsletter, Sophie has courses for that too. Take a look at the bonus bundle here.

Have you ever turned up somewhere and thought… why am I here?
Years ago, Guy Goma turned up at the BBC studios in London and next thing he knew - he was on national TV being interviewed as an IT expert. This video never fails to make me laugh.
Well - I made a few people laugh this week because I was on a roundtable podcast interview with design legends Made by James, James Barnard and Jennifer Taback. Before you ask - I WAS supposed to be there as I was kindly asked by Alen from the recently rebranded podcast The Type Convo Podcast - now known as CaptnOffScript.
But there was a little part of me thinking those people are huge. They have thousands of followers, why am I here?! Then I let that thought go! I have over 30 years of design experience. You may think that you don't have a right to be somewhere. I say YES, you do. If there’s a podcast, a magazine, a radio show that you want to appear on - DO IT! What’s the harm in asking? They could say no. Or they might even say YES!
Fancy a quick laugh? Have a look at the podcast snippet - ha ha (and eeep!)
Recording of CAPTNOffScript podcast - out soon!
Have a great month ahead,
Ange 🌈
