Font ❤️ Friday and Other Designery Things #36

FONTLOVEFRIDAY

Hi Reader,

Thanks for Subscribing ♥

Welcome to my monthly newsletter on fonts, designery things and biz tips to help your day-to-day work life.

I nearly didn't send this one. Why? Because your inbox is probably drowning in Black Friday Deals today!!! But before you leave or unsubscribe – hear me out for 4 minutes.

I wanted to do something different this month. Times are tough for many people right now, and I've been hearing from freelancers and seeing conversations online about how challenging things are out there. So here's my ask - support and champion freelancers and small businesses this season, if you can. Let's do it …

FONTS

Jamie Clarke
I'm a big fan of Jamie. His selection of typefaces can be found here

Sarah Hyndman
I have Sarah's book Why Fonts Matter and will always recommend it! You can grab your copy here.* Sarah also has a podcast.

Script and handwriting fonts on sale …
… plus lots more. I Love Typography has a 50% sale on. Actually, here are a few of their popular foundries you can check out.

DESIGNERY THINGS

Kazvare Made This
I have admired Kazvare illustrations on Instagram for a while. Her content often sparks many comments - she tells it as it is! She also has a shop if you are looking for gifts that are diverse and/or have a black cultural reference.

Rachel Wolstenholme
Treat yourself or gift a personalised Christmas bauble or a paper-based commission. Rachel mainly does buildings (maybe your home?) but she’s talented and can paint anything! She is taking currently taking commissions.

Nina Bombina
I met Nina at a market pop-up while cycling by. Her stall was so colourful I had to stop, chat and buy something. Right now she's championing small businesses on Instagram - give her a follow and check out her online store.

The Brummy Artist
Sandra has an online store of vibrant illustrations and also works on bespoke commissions - I had this made for a family member.

#FONTLOVEFRIDAY

I need noise when I work so I listen to lofi or podcasts. This was a recent find. It’s a BBC Sounds podcast on colour palettes and their history: ‘The Secret Lives of Colour’. It gives an intro into colour theory and why colour is important.
If you’re still in the mood for listening, my latest episodes of ‘Creatives Like Us’ are out, Personal branding with Ella Orr, a solo episode with me talking about branding in your business, and yesterday's episode is with Gus Bhandal - the number one LinkedIn trainer!** We talk about how you can change careers and of course getting work on LinkedIn.

Wishing you a calm and peaceful month ahead.

Ange

** according to his mum!

If you made it to the end - you are awesome! Laters!
